Singapore Armwrestling

Armwrestling exemplifies the notion of “mano-a-mano”. At the armwrestling table, two men are pit against each other, literally hand-to-hand, and they are to lock arms till a winner emerges. It is indubitably a contact sport, and possess much of the spirit of a combat sport, in which technique, strength and strategy come together to decide the winner.

In April 2018, the World Armwrestling Federation (main international ratification body for armwrestling) was accorded the status of Full Member of the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF). This is a landmark in the community’s pursuit for greater recognition, and an important occasion that hopefully foreshadows armwrestling’s spot in the Olympics.

Singapore Armwrestling are a team of armwrestlers based in Yishun, currently hosted by Nee Soon East Zone 1 Residents’ Committee as a grass-roots level sports club. Singapore Arm Wrestling have been participating in regional and international competitions for close to a decade, and have seen successes in high-profile tournaments such as Asian Armwrestling Championships and Arnold Classic Australia. www.facebook.com/SingaporeArmwrestling
